Description

Mat forming grey foliage with pink flowers.

These plants are great for poor soils that are dry in summer as they produce long taper roots that will find their own water source. We have grown these in all areas of the garden and can say that poor soils are best as richer substrate can lead to straggly plants that flower well, but are untidy. Best in the border, crevice, alpine rock garden and containers.

Flowers: Spring-summer

Height: 25cm

Spread: 40cm

Further information:

This plant does like to spread a bit but can be cut back if it roams too far. Cut off old flowers to get more. In winter just trim back old flowers.

Common Name: Cheddar pink

Life Cycle: perennial

Family: Caryophyllaceae

Foliage: linear / lanceolate

Basic Colour: ( pink )

Flower Colour: pink / red / white

Natural Flowering: May – July

Winter Hardiness: Fully Hardy

Height with Flowers: 25cm

Soil Requirements:  average / dry / well-drained / sandy

Soil ph:  alkaline / neutral

Location:  container / rock garden / Mediterranean
