    Hi John
Thank you for ordering with us and taking the time to write reviews. We always guarantee the quality of the plants and recommend planting them straight in the garden. These are decieving as we sell them both as one and two year old plants. The one you have is two year old and was kept outside through winter so is slightly behind in growth. You can always tell the two year old specimens by looking at the root system which is tubular and should be of good visible size in the pot.
    All the best
    Laura
